Pumpkin Run & Library traffic

October 12, 2011

The 33rd Annual Great Pumpkin Run 5K race will take place Saturday, October 22, at 9 am!

Although First Avenue (the Library’s street) will not be closed to traffic, it will be restricted from 8:30-10:30 am. Motorists should expect delays along the race route (second page), which will yield to runners. Streets surrounding the Library will be affected as well.

More race details:

  • Race starting time is 9 am. Race day registration is from 7:30-8:30 am at Grandview Middle School Gym, 1240 Oakland Ave.
  • Get a race form & map, also available at the Grandview Center and the Library.
  • Cost is $25 per person race day, and $20 per person to pre-register. (Pre-registration deadline: October 19 by mail and October 21 by noon for walk-ins.)  T-shirts will be given to the first 300 entries.

Library eBooks now available for Kindle

Amazon Kindle users can now download books from the Grandview Library!

All you need is a Grandview Library card, an Amazon.com account, and a Kindle e-book reader.

Use your Kindle or other compatible device to download books through our Digital Downloads.

Tips for downloading Library ebooks to Kindles:

  • Use the “Advance Search” for better results.
  • Check “only show titles with copies available” if you only want to see books available now. Otherwise, you can place holds if items are already borrowed.
  • Check out this short instructional video.
  • The Library is anticipating a high demand for eBooks. We will continue to build our eBook collection. Keep checking back for more titles!

Shopping & fun at Holiday Boutique

Bringing the community together for the holidays!

Come to the Friends of the Grandview Library‘s Holiday Boutique for seasonal shopping & fun for the whole family.

Fabulous vendors will fill the Library Atrium on Saturday, November 19, from 11 am-3 pm. There will be great gifts to purchase and craftmaking for children.

Plus, Stauf’s Coffee Roasters will have a Coffee Shop, Cord Camera will be taking pictures for your holiday cards at sale prices, and Edible Arrangements will be selling pineapple pops and gift certificates at discount prices (and giving part of the proceeds to the Friends of the Library).

Kids can decorate ornaments & gift bags and visit The Elf Shop—where they can secretly purchase gifts ($3 & under) for their families and get free “Magic Reindeer Dust”, while supplies last.

DOOR PRIZES!
A ticket will be given for each purchase made, to be placed in a box for drawing. You need not be present to win. Prizes donated by:
