Mayor declares August “Friends Month”

Grandview Heights Mayor Ray DeGraw has declared August 2013 “Friends of the Grandview Heights Public Library Month”, in recognition of the volunteer group’s efforts to recruit new members and their contributions to maintain and improve the quality of the Library.

The Mayor visited the Library on Thursday, August 1, to present Library Director Mary Ludlum with the official proclamation. (See picture below.)

The Friends of the Grandview Library
raise thousands of dollars each year to support: indoor and outdoor concerts series, children’s story times, special events, summer reading programs, teen programs, workshops, computers, equipment, and much more.

Memberships
help support these activities.

Ludlum said the Friends play a major role in supporting the Library.

“The Friends have raised thousands to support special programs at the Library and to purchase much needed equipment,” she said. “They also serve as regular volunteers for Library activities. Their efforts are very much appreciated by Library patrons and staff.”

Thank you to Mayor DeGraw and the Friends of the Grandview Library for highlighting this wonderful opportunity to help the Library and the community.
