Read each selection & join staff members Wendy Wise or Michele Reinhart for a spirited discussion!
Last Wednesday of each month* at 7 pm in the Conference Room:
- June 30: Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry
Here are the Top 5 Reasons to read Lonesome Dove and come to the Book Discussion Group on June 30!
- 5. Bragging rights. If you read an 800 page book, you want to be able to talk about it with someone! Plus, think of the great workout you will get carting the book around all month!
- 4. You’ve probably already seen the movie. By reading the book, you can find out what got left out and taunt your friends with what you know, but they don’t.
- 3. It won a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1986.
- 2. It is too hot/humid/rainy to be doing anything BUT reading a book in the comfort of your home. On the off chance it is nice out, you can always read by the pool.
AND - 1. Lonesome Dove is the quintessential story of the American Dream, portraying both the romantic idealism of 19th Century cowboys and the more realistic hardships the faced. It is a love story, an adventure, and, perhaps, the best Western ever written.
Please check for available copies of Lonesome Dove at the Circulation Desk and join us for our discussion on the June 30.
