John Ford & John Wayne. Scorsese & De Niro. Kurosawa & Toshiro Mifune. Directors have teamed up with certain actors again & again with amazing results.

Join staffer Chris Boerger for masterpieces from one of Hollywood’s greatest pairings—John Huston & Humphrey Bogart. 

May 2: The Maltese Falcon (1941)
A private detective deals with criminals competing for a special statuette. 3 Oscar nominations.

May 9: Key Largo (1948)
A pleasure trip ends with confronting a gangster. Also starring Edward G. Robinson, Lauren Bacall, and Claire Trevor, who won an Oscar for her role.

May 16: Beat the Devil (1953)
Swindlers tangle on their way to Africa to claim desirable land. Written by Huston & Truman Capote.

May 23: African Queen (1951)
In Africa during WWI, a missionary persuades a boat captain to get involved. Also starring Katharine Hepburn. Bogart’s only Oscar. 

All movies are shown in large-screen digital projection, and start promptly at 6:30 pm.
