Additional parking construction begins
Construction of an additional Library parking lot (at the corner of First & Oakland Avenues) begins Wednesday, April 15, and continues through May.
- Street parking on Oakland Avenue (between the Library's driveway exit & First Avenue) will be limited during this time, depending on construction needs and curb work.
- There is no anticipated conflict with Library business or regular parking, and no plans for surrounding street closings.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of May, in time for the first Music on the Lawn concert on Tuesday, June 2.
Last year's demolition of the building at 1639 West First Avenue (formerly SVR Data Processing) made way for the Spring 2009 construction of an additional Library parking lot.
The redesign includes extensive, park-like landscaping of evergreen & deciduous trees and shrubs (to be completed in autumn 2009) and lighting, with the entrance/exit off Oakland Avenue.

The Library Board of Trustees is pleased to use this Library property to meet the needs of the community.
