Solar Eclipse Viewing 

A total solar eclipse is happening in parts of Ohio on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 3:10 pm!

The last visible total solar eclipse in Ohio was in 1806, and the next one visible in Ohio will be in 2099.

Our community is just outside the path of totality, but we’ll see a nearly complete eclipse right here, weather permitting.

Limited Glasses – SOLD OUT!

GHPL offered a limited supply of free eclipse glasses beginning Monday, March 18, but we no longer have any available.

The Grandview Heights Public Library, in collaboration with 11 other Central Ohio libraries, is bringing award-winning author and journalist Ta-Nehisi Coates to Columbus on February 4, 2024, at 3 pm.

Coates is an author, journalist, National Book Award winner (Between the World and Me), MacArthur Fellow, and writer for Marvel’s Black Panther (2016-2021) and Captain America (2018-2021) comics series.

The event will feature Coates in conversation with Sophia Fifner, president and CEO of the Columbus Metropolitan Club, at the Upper Arlington High School Performing Arts Space (1625 Zollinger Road).

Food Drive

The library is collecting food items for the Mid-Ohio Food Collective’s food pantries now through December 14.

Drop off your donations in the designated bin inside the library’s back doors during business hours.

No glass containers, please.

Consider donating these most-needed items:

  • Chili with beans
  • Canned fruit (in juice/light syrup)
  • Tuna
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned meat
  • Soup with vegetables
  • Peanut butter

You can also donate cans of tuna and boxes of macaroni & cheese in a designated box in the atrium through November 17 as part of the Stevenson Elementary first grade service learning project.

GHPL breaks ground on new outdoor stage, site improvements for 2024 centennial 

The Grandview Heights Public Library is excited to kick off construction for improvements to its east lawn, drive-thru, parking, and pedestrian pathways beginning in late November 2023. 

A significant portion of the project is being funded with a donation from the Grandview Heights Public Library Foundation Thank you to the Foundation for making this project possible!

Improvements will include a new covered outdoor stage for library events, a permanent exterior drive-thru, enhanced traffic flow and parking, and improved pedestrian accessibility and walkways.  

Phased construction will continue through early spring 2024.  

The project is expected to be completed in time to kick off the 38th Annual Music on the Lawn summer concert series and celebrate the library’s 100th birthday 

The library will remain open during updates but there may be temporary disruptions. 

WSA Studio is the architect, REALM Collaborative is the landscape architect, and Lehman Daman is the contractor for this project.

This publication of the Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff Historical Society commemorates local residents who died in service to our county.

COSI Connects Kits

Pick up a free COSI Connects Kit at the library while supplies last!

These free kits include water-themed STEM activities and science experiments for grades K-8. (Kits do not contain food.)

The kits are provided to GHPL through a partnership between COSI and the Ohio Library Council.

Kits are first-come, first-served while supplies last in Youth Services on the lower level of the library. (Only 100 will be available.) Limit is one per child.
