Get instant access to hundreds of comic books online from hoopla digital, available through the Grandview Heights Public Library’s (GHPL) E-books/Digital Media.
GHPL patrons can now enjoy popular comic books and graphic novels such as: The Walking Dead, Spawn, Invincible, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, Superman: Earth One, Justice League Vol. 1: Origin, and Daytripper.
Popular publishers include DC Entertainment, Image Comics, IDW, and Titan Comics.
Titles can be accessed instantly 24/7 by smartphone, tablet, and computer and can be viewed full-page or panel-by-panel for a better appreciation of illustrations. Patrons can also download the free hoopla digital mobile app on their Android or IOS device.
New titles will be added to the service weekly.
GHPL currently offers more than 325,000 videos, music, e-books, and audiobooks, through hoopla digital.
A GHPL card is required to create a login/password on hoopla digital to access titles.There are no waiting lists, since titles can be enjoyed by multiple patrons simultaneously. Titles expire from devices after the lending period, so there are no overdue fines.

Reserve a guitar from the Grandview Heights Public Library (GHPL) and start making music!
Acoustic guitars are now available to borrow from GHPL, thanks to a grant from the Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff Education Foundation.
The Foundation awarded $2,000 to GHPL for the lending program that provides four Yamaha acoustic guitars for patrons to check out and take home. The program focuses on music education through hands-on collaborative learning for all ages.
Each guitar checkout comes with a hardshell case, accessories, and instructional materials.
GHPL partnered with local business Guitar House Workshop to select the instruments and to provide routine maintenance.
Guitars are available and on display in Circulation on the second level of the library.
Guitars loan for 28 days with a GHPL card (3 renewals, if there are no other patron requests), are available only at GHPL (unavailable through our consortium), and must be returned to GHPL. Overdue fines are $1.25 per day.
GHPL was inspired to lend guitars by Licking County Library’s guitar and ukulele lending program.

The Grandview Heights Public Library (GHPL) is on the go with a new mobile library!
GHPL’s PopUp Library is a low-speed, electric vehicle specially customized to transport and display library materials. Visitors can browse and check out a selection of materials, get a library card, and learn more about library resources and services from staff.
The PopUp Library will keep a regular schedule of visits throughout Grandview Heights and Marble Cliff, including: outreach, school visits, park and pool visits, and local special events like the Grandview Hop, Grandview Digfest, Tour De Grandview, Grandview Farmers Market, and the Memorial Day Parade.
The selection of popular materials for kids and adults will change according to the theme of each visit.
“It’s a terrific way to engage the community,” said GHPL Director Ryan McDonnell. “The PopUp Library is an exciting way to communicate our services outside of the library. We love getting out in the community and meeting new people. The response has been amazing.”
The vehicle is funded with private money from the Grandview Heights Public Library Foundation, who funded GHPL’s Free WiFi in Grandview Parks project in 2014.
“It’s another example of GHPL and the Foundation reaching out and working with the community in innovative ways,” said Foundation President Krista Sturbois. “The PopUp Library is generating a lot of excitement.”
A GHPL staff team created the vehicle concept and worked to create a graphic design with Mike Dexter, a Grandview resident and GHPL volunteer who has designed logos for the City of Grandview Heights, The Grandview Area Chamber, The Lazy Daze of Summer Festival, and more.

The public is invited to a free community screening of the WOSU Public Media documentary Columbus Neighborhoods: Tri-Village on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 7 pm, at the GHHS Auditorium.
The evening will include a Q&A with the producer.

Some local residents and materials gathered from “Share-a-Story” Day, held at the Library in June 2014, are featured in the documentary.
WOSU Public Media, Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff Historical Society, and the Grandview Library invited residents to share their stories, photographs, films, and artifacts. Many materials were digitally scanned for preservation. The event assisted WOSU Public Media’s research for the documentary while helping the Historical Society preserve and promote local history.
Materials can also be found on the Historical Society’s new Timeline, which is featured on an interactive touchscreen on the second floor of the Library.
The Library is proud to partner with these organizations to present this free event celebrating local history.
